Boyne City, in the fall or summer, is one of our favorite local cities to visit. It’s a great place to visit for some great fall colors, beautiful views of the lake, and some delicious local restaurants.
Avalanche Mountain Preserve: Avalanche Mountain is over 300 acres of woods for outdoor lovers to enjoy. You can hike, mountain bike, or take the stairs to the top for scenic views along the way and a beautiful view of Lake Charlevoix once you reach the top. A must-do during fall months to see the gorgeous colors.
Horton Bay General Store: Located on Boyne City Rd., The Horton Bay General Store is known for it’s Hemingway memorabilia, the B&B upstairs, and their tavern in the back serving lunch 7 days a week, and tapas on the weekends. Don’t forget to try a real malted soda here.
Young State Park: With mini cabins and campgrounds available to rent, Young State Park is great for fishing, boating, hiking, or jogging. Bring your camping gear for a weekend of fall fun.
Alpine Chocolat Haus: There’s no better sweet treat in the fall than a caramel apple, and the Alpine Chocolat Haus has the best! A huge granny smith apple covered in caramel and topped with many topping choices. I don’t know if you’ll be able to share once you take a bite, so everyone should probably grab their own.
Lake Street Pub: Choose to sit inside or if it’s warm enough, grab a spot on the patio near the outdoor fireplace for a great atmosphere. For dinner, try the chicken wings, or the fresh local whitefish is always a hit.
