Petoskey Food Trucks – Part 2

Dos Locals Tacos Food Truck

In addition to the seven food trucks located in The Backlot area that I mentioned in the previous blog (click here if you missed reading that one), there are six other food trucks throughout Petoskey for you to explore.

The Food Truck at Bear Creek Organic Farm is located at 4012 Adkins Road. Bear Creek Organic Farm is Petoskey’s first ever 100% USDA Certified Organic farm and the first B Corp Certified farm in the entire state of Michigan. They are a name that is synonymous with trust and deliciousness, and so is their amazing food truck. All of the items on their truck are sourced on their farm when possible. Some of their most popular items are their grass-fed burger, their Bear Creek Farm Fries, and my favorite, their crunchy and sensational onion rings which are available each season until they run out of onions.

Dos Locals Tacos is a brand new food truck to Petoskey. They serve up authentic tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas and burrito bowls. Oftentimes you can catch them in the parking lot of Ron’s Bar which is located at 1041 N. US 31, or the BP Gas Station located at 2169 N US-31, right across from Brown Motor Dealership. Make sure you follow them on Facebook to see where they may end up.

Chavez Kitchen Food Truck is located at 1444 US-131 in the parking lot of the Odawa Hotel right next to Lume. The offer authentic, Hispanic cuisine on the go. You will see different tacos on their menu on a regular basis as well as items like barria ramen and corn in a cup. They also frequently rotate special foods such as lengua tacos and tripa tacos. They do special Mexican inspired drinks and sweets as well.

Petok Culinary Experiences is a food truck located in the parking lot of Fletch’s GMC Buick Audi at 825 Charlevoix Avenue. What sets this food truck apart from others is that it is completely gluten free, and not only does it claim to be gluten free, it is actual certified gluten free, so those with celiac disease as well as those wanting to limit their gluten intake can enjoy the truck’s foods pain free. Did I mention the food was fresh and excellent even if you are not gluten free? They have brunch foods like cinnamon rolls and avocado toast in addition to lunch and dinner foods. And you can purchase loaves of their many types of gluten free bread. Try the millionaire bars.

Tyler's Tacos Food Truck

Tylers Tacos is located at 900 Bay View Road. As the name would suggest, their specialty is tacos. They claim to specialize in “authentically inauthentic” tacos filled with smoked pork, brisket, and chicken. Tyler and his crew smoke their meat for days to create their tacos. They also have a large menu with items like burritos and bowls. Their queso and various salsas as well as their tortillas are all made from scratch. And, they have outdoor seating that overlooks Little Traverse Bay.

Stiggs BBQ Wagon is located on the property of Elder Piper Beer & Cider at 923 Baxter Street. This food truck is a miniature version of the popular Stiggs Restaurant in Boyne City. You can get some of the restaurant’s most popular items like their smoked wings and pulled pork sandwiches and their famous fuggle fries, all which pair well with the delicious beer and cider from Elder Piper.

I for one am thrilled that Petoskey has such a variety of excellent food truck choices.

Here are a few random facts about food trucks:

  1. The very first food truck that resembles modern day food trucks was in 1936. The Weinermobile was created by the Oscar Meyer company to advertise and sell hotdogs. It would tour the United States selling hotdogs at schools, parades, orphanages, and hospitals.
  2. As of July 2025, there are over 65,000 food trucks in the United States.
  3. Los Angeles alone has over 4,000 registered food trucks.
  4. The most popular item on a food truck in the United States is French fries.
