10 Slow Cooker Meals for Busy Families
I’ve been on a slow cooker, crockpot kick the last few weeks with the start of school. Yes, school finally started here in Petoskey and the kids are off and running so I’m trying to take advantage of the time alone and keep things running as smoothly as I can on the home front. Working from home definitely has it’s advantages: I can set my own schedule which is awesome! However, if I don’t stay on task it’s still easy to let things around the house fall by the wayside. With the second week of school starting this week, the kids various after school activities are also following suit; hockey practice twice a week, gymnastics once a week and dance for the littlest on Saturday mornings. My kids have yet to decide if they want to add any other activities into the mix but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. None of these activities are ever near each other either as I turn into their chauffeur. Enter my good ole’ trusty slow cooker. I’ve had it since we rented a tiny apartment before we were even married. It’s definitely not like all the fancy models you see today; so timers, bells or whistles but it still works great!
This year, I’m trying something new. Not only am I relying on my slow cooker multiple times a week, I’m pre-making making multiple meals all at once and freezing in large freezer bags, thawing the night before in the fridge and then dumping into the slow cooker mid-morning. By the time dinner rolls around, we have an easy, no mess meal that we all can enjoy. I did a big freezer meal shop at the beginning of last week, spent about $130 on meat and various veggies. Most of the seasonings and odd and ends we already had on hand. I was able to get 10 freezer meals prepped and ready to go as shown above.
Looking for some freezer meal ideas? Look no further, I made up a few of these and we’ve already had a couple. Each turned out great so I’m excited to try the rest!
