Brownwood Farms Blueberry Hand Pies
Hello there! Today on the blog I’m going to be sharing with you a very easy recipe using Brownwood Farms Blueberry Preserves. If your kids are anything like mine they love Pop-Tarts. I stopped buying them long ago due to a majority of the ingredients. I occasionally buy the organic version but it’s once in a blue moon and even then I’m hard pressed. My kids do not like me most mornings.
Enter Blueberry Hand Pies. Easy to make and yummy. So, so yummy!!! Trust me. Brownwood Farms Preserves are the best and if I don’t have any homemade raspberry jam on hand it’s my number one go too. Even if you’re not using it for hand pies, it’s all-natural and made right here in Northern Michigan. Grandpa Shorter’s has a nice selection on their website and if you’re in downtown Petoskey stop in to check for your favorite flavors and products. It’d a great way to use locally made products and you even get a taste of summer.
- 1 package of store bought pie crusts
- 1 jar of Brownwood Farms Blueberry Preserves
- 1/4 C. milk
- Sugar to sprinkle on top of the hand pies
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Use a sharp paring knife to cut the pie crusts into 3×4″ rectangles. It doesn’t have to be perfect and I did mine by eye. I ended up with 12 pieces, enough to make 6 hand pies.
- Place 6 bottom pieces on a baking sheet 2″ a part.
- Use a tablespoon and scoop 2-3 tablespoons of the blueberry preserves onto the pie crust. Don’t be stingy. Even if they leak while baking, more is always better.
- Place the tops on the hand pies and use a for to seal the edges.
- Brush the crusts with milk and sprinkle with sugar and use the fork to make a few holes in the top.
- Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Try not to eat them all. Seriously. I had to walk away after one.
