Cheese Please – West Coast Shorter Wife

Now that the holiday cooking is behind us let’s talk about a fun way to put out food at parties and even for date night – in!

Cheese and fruit platters are such a fun way to try little bites of everything good and share parings that are local and that you love.  Of course get out your favorite wine or wines and do a tasting or just have everyone enjoy a glass or two!

I always enjoy frequenting our Pybus Market and finding what new crop is out and fresh.  Of course in the winter you just do your best to find quality produce – I always think local is the most fun.

If you are having a party put out some sweet cookies – pictured here are Grandma Otto’s Shortbread Cookies.  Also, some super fun candies are always a hit these are from a local shop here in Wenatchee, WA – Merriment.  I know Grandpa Shorter’s has many very fun sweets that would add to your party and add to the look of your party.

Have fun with your layout.  Make it like art.

The thing I most enjoy about a cheese platter is that you can use what you have in the fridge and they can be different each time but just as nice.Making a cheese and wine tray for parties that everyone enjoys!

Recommendations for must-haves on your platter:

– Soft Cheese, I like a goat cheese or my favorite is Boursin which is a round cheese with herbs in it already

– Hard Cheese – my top pick is Beecher’s Handmade Flagship Cheese from Seattle, WA – so yummy!

– Blue Cheese (Optional)

– Your favorite Crackers

– Local fruit could include grapes, apples, pears, nectarines, cherries, kiwi, figs, and the list goes on.  Whatever looks good and is in season if possible.

– Summer Sassage, often times you can find a local one made with venison, elk or buffalo.  Other meats that work well are salami or prosciutto.

Enjoy!

Grandpa Shorter’s and JW Shorter’s have tons of wine and cheese products to check out.  They also have so many fun napkins and paper plates that will make your party even more memorable and will impress your guests.Tips for how to create an eloquent and edible cheese and wine tray for parties and gatherings!

This is a very fun way to entertain and allows you to wine and dine in a relaxed fashion.

Plan a party or date night with this in mind and let us know how it goes!

Until Next Time,
