This is a Shorter family recipe that we like to have on Christmas morning or any time in the winter. It is yummy, very homey and you can have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- – 8 Slices of White Bread
- – 2 Cups grated Sharp Cheese or Medium works too
- – 1 1/2 lbs. Sausage Links – cut into bite sized pieces & browned
- – 4 eggs
- – 3 Cups of Milk
- – 3/4 Tsp. Dry Mustard
- – 10 oz. Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup or Cream of Chicken
Instructions
- Here we go! You will see me making 5 family sized meals as it is Soup Group time!
- Cube bread.
- Place in the bottom of 9 x 13 baking pan. Toss it in there!
- Add 2 Cups of Cheese over the top of the Bread.
- Brown the sausage.
- Cut up the sausage into bite sized pieces and pour it over the cheese.
- Mixing time! Take the milk, eggs, dry mustard, soup and mix it all up in a mixing bowl.
- Then pour it over the top of the bread, cheese and sausage.
- Take this and put it in the oven at 300 degrees for 1 & 1/2 hours or until brown.
- When browned – ENJOY! This is a fun one to make two of and freeze one. It makes awesome left-overs too!
You can serve at breakfast with a nice fruit plate and lunch or dinner with a fresh green salad.
We will prepare this one or two days before Christmas and then bake it on Christmas morning while opening presents.
Tip for cleaning sausage pans – boil water in them for 1st step to cleaning. Then when you are ready to wash them they are much easier to clean.
Until Next Time!
