Easy Homemade Hot Cocoa
What do you think of when you think of winter? I often think of snow, the kids outside sledding, ice skating and more often than not, hot cocoa! And no, I’m not talking about the kind you buy at the store in a box. I’m talking about the good stuff, the homemade version. It’s rich and chocolately and you know what’s in it (my favorite part) and you can make as much or a little as you want. No opening a box or packets. Plus, if you make a big enough batch and store it in an airtight container it will last a while. It’s also a lot more cost effective than buying the single packets or k-cups at the store and easy to make! It’s perfect to have on hand for those days the kids are outside sledding and busy building snowmen and then asking for hot cocoa. We like ours with extra mini marshmallows on the side. Yum!
Plus, my other favorite part of homemade hot cocoa? The mugs. I have a thing for mugs. It used to be shoes prior to having kids. That got tossed by the wayside when I discovered coffee to stay awake. Now I collect mug in a variety of styles and sizes. I just had to find the perfect one at Grandpa Shorter’s to showcase my homemade hot cocoa recipe here on the blog and I think this one worked quite nicely, don’t you think? They had a few other super cute styles to choose from but this one I liked the most and it has a surprise the kiddos will love!!
How adorable is this little snowman at the bottom of the mug? So cute and I know my kids will get a kick out of it when they spot him! Ok, on the with the recipe!
