Easy Strawberita Cocktail Slushie
We love summer time here in Northern Michigan. Lazy beach days spent lounging in the sun and warm summer evenings on the boat. What is a better way to enjoy a hot summer day than enjoying an adult beverage? I love playing hostess all throughout the year but summer means fun trying out fun cocktails with friends. Cocktails don’t have to take a lot of time and don’t have to be super fancy to be fun and taste good either.
I’ve never been a huge beer drinker. I enjoy the occasional hard cider at Tap 30 or one of the other local breweries in the area, but I’m typically a mixed drink kind of gal. If we are going out on the boat or heading to the beach I like to grab a few malt beverage drinks such as Mike’s Hard Lemonade which are easy to carry in the cooler.
I recently discovered you can actually freeze malt beverages. Well, almost. They don’t freeze completely and actually gets slushie. You simply open the beverage, pour it into a large gallon freezer, close and then place in the freezer for several hours. When you take it out, it’s just like those fancy and expensive Parrot Bay or Daily’s Frozen Margaritas but half the price.
Want to make your own? I’m sharing an oh, so easy recipe that will save you money but taste great and are just as easy to transport if needed. Simply keep the slushie in the gallon freezer bag and add a straw OR pour into a cup and enjoy!
