Employee Spotlight: Sara
Meet Sara! Sara is our beloved Bookkeeper. Her favorite part about working at GSG is that she feels extremely appreciated and valued. She loves the simple surprises at work, such as the little thank you compliments that Jennifer writes and her smiling coworkers. Her favorite coworkers are ones that are willing to do anything and don’t dwell on the negative.
In her free time, she loves to do puzzles, especially the ones we sell at Grandpa Shorters’. She says that they really help with her cabin fever and she loves how colorful and fun they are too. Sara loves living in a tight-knit community like Petoskey, where she is able to work with people she is proud to know and do something she loves.
Petoskey Stones
"Petoskey Stones" are the official stone of Michigan. It's a fossil coral of the genus hexagonaria. This coral lived approximately 350 million years ago in the sea which used to cover Michigan. It is a compound coral in that many animals lived together in a colony. In each small hexagon chamber is the prehistoric remains of a saltwater marine life. It is called "Petoskey Stone" because it is found mostly around Petoskey in the area of Little Traverse Bay.
