Fluffernutter Cookies

Recently while I was stationed in Trapper’s Cabin, Grandpa Shorter’s lower level, (check out the random sales and other cool stuff down there) I was looking over our large assortment of cookie cutters and found one the shape of a piece of toast. Why would anybody want a toast shaped cookie cutter?? I soon learned the reason for this odd shaped cutter. Have you ever heard of a fluffernutter sandwich?? Or as my spell check wanted to make it: a “fluffier utter” sandwich! It is a marshmallow fluff and peanut butter sandwich and is apparently quite delicious. Although I personally have never had the opportunity to try this supposed delight, the fluffernutter cookie recipe on the back of the cutter looked interesting and I happened to have a jar of unused marshmallow fluff sitting in my cupboard. I was not excited to read that the dough had to chill for several hours as I like instant gratification when making cookies, along with the fact that for me the chilling dough is a huge temptation to just eat raw! I also had forgotten to take the cute toast cookie cutter home, but I just used a circle one. However, I still gave these fluffernutters a whirl. . . YUM!!!!!! My family loved them. However, a word of warning, marshmallow crème tends to get liquidy when spread between the two cookie layers, so just eat them all quickly! Here’s the cookie cutter, the recipe and a picture of the finished product. TRY THEM YOURSELF!!!!
