Northern Michigan Haunted Houses & Ghost Tours

October 12, 2015

Hello, friends and welcome back! Halloween is only a few weeks away and I’m getting excited. It’s honestly one of my favorite holidays, ever. I love the crisp, cool air and the how creepy things become around this time of year. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer and I love a good ghost story or haunted house.

A little bit about me: I grew up in a 130-year-old farmhouse over in Indian River. We know that the original’s owner passed in what is now my mom and dad’s living room, as it used to be an old bedroom before it was renovated. Now, I’ve never actually seen or heard anything in my house, but that doesn’t mean there’s not anything there right? Then again, I’d probably be the first one to run and hide if I saw something! But, I just love hearing about it and other spooky ghost stories. I even like those cheesy Haunted House shows on TV with the really bad actors. My husband makes fun of me but hey, we all like something kinda cheesy, right?

With Halloween being so close, I thought I’d write up a fun list of local Northern Michigan Haunted Houses & Ghost Tours. Our area has TONS of history so why not investigate and have some fun?

Haunted houses in Northern Michigan

Petoskey

Haunted Progressive Dinner Friday October 30th – What better way to experience downtown Petoskey on Halloween weekend than by enjoying dinner and drinks at haunted establishments and learning about Petoskey’s haunted past?

Walking Ghost Tour through Downtown Petoskey – Interested in Petoskey’s spooky past but can’t make the Haunted Progressive Dinner? This walking tour features multiple stops in downtown Petoskey, including historic restaurants and hotels that will scare and captivate you. I have been on this tour twice and highly recommend it.

Little Traverse Bay Parafest October 16th-October 19th – Not an actual haunted house or ghost tour, I thought this was definitely worth mentioning. Love the paranormal? This fun conference at Bay View’s historic, and haunted,Terrace Inn isn’t for the faint of heart. Join celebrities from Ghost Hunters, Haunted Collector as well as psychic mediums and others that share an interest in the paranormal.

Boyne Falls

The Nightmare at Challenge Mountain – Every Friday & Saturday in October 7pm-10pm, Adults $10, Children $5 each or 3 for $10. Visit the The Nightmare at Challenge Mountain website for directions and more info.

Wolverine

Scream In Wolverine – Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in October. Pricing varies between attractions, but I’ve heard this is one of the absolute best haunted houses around as Kurt & Burt go all out in making their guests scream in terror.
