Ten Easy and Creative Ways to Preserve Your Travel Memories

June 28, 2015

One of the rewards of travel is all the great memories you make. Your trip may only last a week, but you can revisit that place over and over just by remembering. Make it easier to remember by preserving those memories in one of these simple, but creative ways.Preserving Travel Memories

1. Mark it on a map. If travel is frequent and far-flung, keep track of all your destinations by plotting them on a map. Hang a large wall map and use push pins to mark the places you’ve visited. It doubles as artwork and makes a great conversation starter.Travel Memory Map

2. Make a scrapbook. In addition to photos, collect brochures, tickets, restaurant napkins and any other paper mementos from your trip to create your scrapbook.

3. Write a travel journal. Making daily entries in a travel diary is a simple way to keep a record of your travels. Even better, combine your travel journal and scrapbook into one book. Leave blank pages between entries, and after your trip go back and paste in the paper mementos.

4. Take a selfie at each landmark. Take a photo of yourself and your traveling companions at all the landmarks you visit. If it’s a road trip, stop at each state line and take a photo in front of the welcome sign. Are your flying? Take a photo at each airport. Combine all the photos in an album or make them into a collage.

5. Collect Magnets. Most souvenir shops sell magnets. Collect one from each spot you visit and display them on your fridge. Every time you get a glass of milk you’ll be reminded of all the places you’ve been.

6. Collect Bumper Stickers. You’ll find these in most souvenir shops also. But instead of plastering you car with them, create a piece of artwork to display in your home. Use a piece of lightweight foam core as the canvas. You can easily cut to fit it to a shape to fit your stickers. You can even take your finished piece to a shop and have it framed.

7. Send a postcard from each location. Mail postcards to yourself during your travels. Pick ones with photos of places you visit, and write a note on the back about what you did on that day of your trip. When you get home collect your postcards in an album. The postmarks from each place you went are an added bonus!travel postcards

8. Make a Shadowbox. Instead of a scrapbook, fill a shadow box with souvenirs. This is a great way to preserve three-dimensional items like seashells, coins and nic-nacs.

9. Collect Mugs. Purchase a mug on each of your travels. Every morning when you have coffee you can relive your honeymoon in Paris or your family vacation in the Bahamas.

10. Blog about it. Create on online travel journal by writing a blog. Upload pictures and write stories about all your trips. This is a great way to share your adventures with friends and family all around the world.
