First Friday in December – 6-9pm
Our Holiday Open House takes place each year on the first Friday night in December. During this event, we celebrate the beauty of the season and thank our loyal customers for supporting us over the years.
Merchants bring out food and beverages and host a big party inside the stores and out in the streets. Petoskey will block off our downtown streets and you will find carolers, hot cocoa stations, roasted chestnuts, and even an old-fashioned bean pot all set up in the streets.
The evening starts with the annual tree lighting in Pennsylvania Park, with Santa doing the honors of lighting the giant pine tree.
The Petoskey Steel Drum Band performs on their double-decker trailer throughout the evening. At the end of the event, they will play a last song as they drive down Lake Street to head back to the high school.
Grandpa Shorter’s Gifts’ primary concern is the health, safety, and comfort of our staff and customers. Because of the uncertainty that comes with the COVID-19 pandemic, we will assess how and what we will serve and do for the open house as we get closer to the date.
