Easy Barbeque Shrimp
Summer is finally here. Finally!! The days are getting hotter (I love super hot days) and the kids even start summer camp tomorrow in Bayview. Woohoo! With it finally being hot outside we love barbeque and grilling and try to utilize the grill as much as we can throughout the summer months here in Northern Michigan. My husband is in charge of the grill and I’m in charge of the side dishes. Usually easy sides that involve little prep. One of main go-to side dishes is corn on the cob. I heat in the microwave with the husk on and it takes only minutes. While I’m inside, my husband is outside manning our trusty old charcoal grill. I don’t trust myself enough to run it. We used to have a gas grill before kids but we really love the taste of charcoal so we switched to a basic $50 Walmart grill several years ago and never looked back.
Today on the blog, I’m sharing a really simple barbecue shrimp how-to. It’s so easy and versatile. You can serve the shrimp as is with a side dish or over a bed of rice or quinoa. All you need is 1-2 lb of uncooked jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined. Some blackening seasoning (we love Zatarains or Old Bay Seasoning) and your favorite barbecue sauce. We love Brownwood Farms Cherry Barbeque Sauce. It has the perfect amount of barbeque flavor and just a hint of cherry that isn’t too overwhelming and perfect for grilling. Let’s get started!
Ingredients –
1-2 lb jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
1-2 tsp. blackening seasoning (more if you prefer spicy)
Brownwood Farms Cherry Barbeque Sauce
salt & pepper to taste
Directions –
- Light your grill and allow it to heat up.
- While the grill is heating, devein the shrimp, skewer and season with blackening seasoning, salt & pepper.
- Place on the grill and cook 7-8 minutes. Turn and cook another 7-8 minutes.
- Baste generously with BBQ sauce on both sides once they are cooked through.
- Remove from the grill and serve with cooked quinoa or rice or fresh corn on the cob!
