Homemade Au Gratin Potato dish
The little gal from Montana, Sylvie Coston, that lived with us this winter makes about every potato dish possible.  She stayed with our family while skiing for Mission Ridge Ski Team to pursue her dreams.  Sylvie makes a mean Au Gratin Potato dish passed down from the ladies in her family that I wanted to share with you.

Ingredients:

-Sliced onion
-Thinly sliced potatoes – how many depends on the size of pan you want to fill
-1/2 c Ramano cheese
-1/2 c Cheddar cheese
-1 cup Chicken broth
-1tbs. Flour
-1 clove of Garlic
-Butter
-Salt
-Pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Butter casserole dish
  3.  Put layer of potatoes down
  4. Sprinkle onions (already sauteed with butter and garlic until golden)
  5.  Sprinkle Romano cheese and cheddar cheese (lightly) topping with salt and pepper
  6.  Repeat 2 more times.
  7. On the last layer before before adding cheese mix together about 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 Tbs. of flour and pour in top
  8. Top with cheese
  9. Put in oven for 45 min. – 1 hr or until potatoes cooked through.

I sure hope you enjoy this one as much as we did.  Au Gratin Potatoes can be served with any meat main course such as ham, venison, steak, pork chops or salmon.  They work well during the holiday season or are always a hit at any backyard cookout or potluck. Try it with our BBQ Cherry rib recipe or the mustard baked chicken!
